Old Oak Barn

Old Oak Barn occupies the west wing of the barn, and is a more comfortable home for sleeping 5 ( or 7 using the double sofa bed ).

It has one of the lightest bedrooms in Suffolk - what we like to call the "love room". What was once a nasty corrugated tin roof has been turned into a half glazed sky light. It gives a superb view of the sky at night - and there is no better place than Suffolk to gaze at the stars. Don't worry, its not a conservatory. It has individual blinds to control the amount of light and heat that comes into the room. There is plenty of room to get a cot in or small child's bed and these can be provided. This room has plenty of beams and elm flooring. It also has an en suite shower.

The adjacent bathroom has roll-top bath and toilet. The oak staircase leads down to the ground floor with its light and spacious lounge/dining area. French doors lead onto the decking area with BBQ and hardwood table and chairs.

There is plenty of room in the dining area for six around the table. The lounge also has its own small but powerful wood-burner. An oak door leads from the lounge into the ground floor twin bedded room, containg a double and single bed. It has a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and wash basin - an ideal room for a guest that doesn't like stairs! This room and the adjacent laundry room used to be the original piggery! It's certainly charming.

The kitchen is open plan and adjoins the lounge area. Again, like all the units it is equipped to a high standard with Stoves range cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave as well as food processor for the discerning cooks. This unit has shared use of the laundry room with Goat Willow Barn (and us, of course).

Old Oak also has a large oak front door leading from the kitchen into the Communal Hall. This area is for the shared use of all guests. We have a good selection of puzzles, games, books, DVD's for your use or you can sit with a bottle of wine and relax in front of the wood burner. It's a great space for people to get to know each other - Ideal for two families holidaying together, when we would recommend booking Old Oak and Goat Willow as a block.
